OCM Manufacturing is currently looking for an experienced shipper to join our inventory control team. As OCM’s Shipper you are responsible for counting, scanning, bagging, and packaging orders for shipment. The successful applicant will also be able to use their experience to ascertain the best shipping methods for materials by using their knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates. This position reports to the Scheduling Supervisor.

Summary of Responsibilities

Additional duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Participating in decision making on how best to transport goods based on history, shipment size, client deadlines, processing delays, cost, etc.
  • Participating in decision making regarding which carriers to use
  • Organizing and maintaining daily shipping schedules
  • Verifying and keeping records on all shipping records
  • Tracing missing or misplaced shipments

Desired Skills & Education

  • Certification and experience shipping dangerous goods
  • WHMIS trained with valid certificate
  • Knowledge and experience shipping lithium batteries
  • Knowledge of how to complete NAFTA and customs forms as well as global shipments
  • Ability to look up and determine tariff codes
  • Minimum two years of shipping experience
  • Experience with ERP systems is an asset
  • Good communication skills
  • High degree of integrity
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items
  • Use a Pallet Truck for packaging & unloading of Materials
  • Able to interface and work productively with upper management
  • Ability to read and write English
